Celebrating Fall & Looking Ahead: Highlights, Holidays, and Upcoming Workshops!

Wow, fall is truly here! Despite a few warm days sneaking in, the leaves are falling, crunching underfoot, and the season is unmistakable. It’s been a vibrant October here at the Folk Art Guild, and we’re thrilled to share some of the highlights with you.

We kicked off the month with the Naples Studio Trail, welcoming visitors from across the region. Our resident artists, Annie and David, showcased their work, sparking interest and inspiration among attendees. Shortly after, our annual Open House & Apple Festival arrived, bigger and better than ever! The event was packed with enthusiastic guests who braved a bit of rain to celebrate with us. We enjoyed live music and painting demonstrations from artists with the Naples Valley Art Collective and hosted two stellar performances from Teaching Artists ROC: Howard Edmond’s storytelling enchanted us, and Rosa Boemia brought the rhythm of Brazilian music to life. It was a perfect weekend of fall fun, community celebration, and creativity. We are so grateful to everyone who came by, volunteered, or simply stopped in to say hello. Your presence made it special!

Later in the month, we hosted a screening of a moving new documentary created in partnership with the Mutual Aid Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes. It was a beautiful gathering and an opportunity to connect around important local initiatives.
As we look forward to the holiday season, we’re excited to announce our Holiday Studio Sales on November 16-17 and December 14-15! This is the perfect chance to shop local and small for unique, handcrafted gifts. Your support helps local artists and celebrates the craftsmanship that makes our community so unique.

We’re also gearing up for FLX Gives on November 14-15 and ROC the Day on December 3—two wonderful ways to support local organizations making a difference. These events are a fantastic opportunity to learn about and give back to organizations in our community.
And looking ahead to 2025, we’re thrilled to have an incredible lineup of workshops on the calendar. Whether you’re a seasoned artisan or simply curious, our workshops offer something for everyone. Here’s a peek at what’s coming:
Sleepy Sheep Felting
Date: January 20
Create a charming felted sheep with all materials provided, perfect for ages 8 and up!
Linoleum Block Printing
Dates: February 1 & 8
Design, carve, and print your unique creations in this two-session introduction to printmaking.
Learn to Weave
Dates: February 15-17
Dive into three days of color, texture, and creativity on a floor loom.
Navajo Weaving
Dates: March 8-11
Experience Navajo weaving techniques with renowned artist Marilou Schultz. Limited spots remain!
