Join us for an unforgettable evening with The Paza Experience—a celebration of Native American culture through live performance and film. This event will begin with a 30-minute cultural performance, featuring traditional Native American flute, drums, and songs. Learn about the history and significance of men’s and women’s traditional dances, with the opportunity for audience participation.

Following the performance, experience the award-winning documentary “Without Arrows,” directed by Jonathan Olshefski and Elizabeth Day. This powerful film chronicles the life of Delwin Fiddler Jr., a champion grass dancer from the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, as he returns home to reconnect with his roots and carry on his family’s legacy. Filmed over 13 years, it offers an intimate look into Lakȟóta life and the journey of healing, empowerment, and cultural revitalization.

After the screening, stay for a Q&A session with Delwin Fiddler Jr., the film’s creators, and special guests, offering a unique opportunity for deeper insights into the documentary and its cultural significance.

This event is free and open to all, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Rochester Area Community Foundation and MidAtlantic Arts. About the Movie: “Without Arrows”

“Without Arrows” follows Delwin Fiddler Jr., a champion grass dancer from the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, on a personal journey of healing and cultural reconnection. Over the course of 13 years (2011-2023), the documentary chronicles Delwin’s experiences living both on and off the reservation, exploring themes of family trauma, identity, and the struggle to preserve his Lakȟóta heritage. The film captures Delwin’s return to his homeland, fulfilling his mother’s vision of reconnecting with his roots. “Without Arrows” offers a powerful look into the complex issues faced by Native American communities today, including the balance between traditional practices and modern life.

The film has been widely praised for its intimate, heartfelt storytelling and stunning cinematography, winning numerous awards and recognition in the documentary film world.

About Paza Tree of Life

Paza Tree of Life was founded by Delwin Fiddler Jr. to help revitalize and preserve Native American culture through education, empowerment, and reconciliation. The nonprofit organization’s mission is to promote cultural awareness and foster cross-cultural exchanges, providing opportunities for people to learn the traditional knowledge and "medicine ways" passed down through generations. Paza's work aims to heal communities by empowering individuals to reconnect with their cultural roots, drawing inspiration from the Lakȟóta philosophy of harmony and unity.

Delwin Fiddler Jr., a celebrated performer and cultural ambassador, has worked to share his Lakȟóta heritage with the world, performing for two U.S. Presidents and the British Royal Family. Through Paza, Delwin continues to share the medicine ways of his ancestors, promoting healing, unity, and mutual respect across cultures.
